Federer finally won a title in 2013 – his sixth in Halle

Federer and Serena

For the second day in this season Roger Federer outperformed its 2012 record. The first time was in Rome where he reached the finals (semi-finals in 2012) and now in Halle where he won the tittle for the sixth time.

In Wimbledon (starting in the 24th of June) he will be defending 2000 points of his current score of 7.740 (3rd in the ATP ranking). Will he manage to hold in his hands his most notorious trophy again? Yes he is the defending champion but, like last year, he is not seen has the most probable winner. Federer his and will, as long as he plays, an eternal candidate to every title (especially in grass and hard courts) but at this stage of his career every victory must be seen as an increasingly bigger achievement and not as the unavoidable law it once was. And that is not a lesser reason to follow and cheer the greatest tennis player of all times. If you have followed most of the 20 tournaments he has already played this season you know that it is still there, some of the best plays are still in Roger Federer racket. Let’s savor his last years.

In Halle Federer grasped his 77 th career title matching John McEnroe’s record. They are now the third tennis players with more titles.
