FIFA’s Club World Cup – Corinthians Moves to the Final

The first semi-final of FIFA’s 2012 Club World Cup came to an end a few moments ago in Japan.

Brazilian team Corinthians booked a place in next December 16th final after beating African Champions Al Ahly by 1-0. Corinthians will face the winner of the match between Chelsea and CF Monterrey that will be held tomorrow (11:30 CET).

Corinthians won once  the Trial event of FIFA’s Club World Cup in 2000 in a full Brazilian Final (4-3 over Vasco da Gama in penalty shoot-out). However, in 2000 the Intercontinental Cup (format before FIFA’s Club World Cup that was replaced by the later in 2005) was yet the competition that entitled a club as World Champion. The final was then played between Argentinian side Boca Juniors and Real Madrid. Boca won 2-1 and took the trophy.
