Indy Car – Refueling And Methanol

A very famous Portuguese Poet once wrote that “Love is a fire that burns without being seen“.

Well, in Indy Car races in the US (somehow comparable to F1) you may see some of these words becoming a reality but with a lot of pain instead of love.

Unlike F1 Cars, Indy Cars run on Methanol and refueling during the races is allowed.

Methanol burns with a clear flame and without smoke, so it is difficult to see in daylight. Methanol will still burn at four parts of water to one part of methanol.

So when a refueling operation goes wrong that’s what you…not see…the pilot jumps and screams without an apparent reason…is he out of love?
