Bolt and Farah 600 Metres Charity Race: Who will Win? (Poll and Facts)

ng2683480Mo Farah challenged Usain Bolt for a 600 or 800 metres race with charity purposes.

Bolt accepted the challenge and a 600 metres races will be held at a place and date both yet unknown.

In the past a somehow similar challenge was held between Michael Johnson (200 metres 1996 Olympic Champion) and Donovan Bailey (100 metres 1996 Olympic Champion) in a 150 metres race ran in 1997 to decide who really was the fastest man in the world. Bailey won finishing with a time of 14.99 seconds and cashed in $1.5 million prize, while Johnson received $500,000 despite he (apparently) got injured in the 110 metres mark (when Bailey was ahead) and did not finish the race.

UK’s Farah (born in Somalia though) is the current holder of the 5000 and 10000 metres Olympic titles and holds the European Record in 10000 metres (5000 metres belongs to Mohammed Mourhit of Belgium with 12:49:71).

Recently he turned to shorter distances.

In the 1500 metres he broke the European Record last june 13th with a time of 3:28:81 becoming the 6th fastest man in this distance. This made him the seventh man (Saïd Aouita, Daniel Komen, Ali Saïdi-Sief, Hicham El Gerrouj, Augustine Kiprono Choge, and Bernard Lagat) to break both the 3:30 and the 13 minute barriers  in the 1500 metres and  5000 metres (Farah’s best is 12:53:11).

Farah has one of the most astonishing termination speed of all mid distance runners and has a personal best of 1:48:69 in 800 metres.

Usain Bolt is the current holder of the 100 and 200 metres Olympic Gold and  also won the 4×100 metres Relay with Jamaica with a time below 37 seconds for the first time.×100-metres-relay-100-metres-in-8-70-seconds-say-it-again/

Bolt also tried 400 metres races and his best mark is of 45:28 seconds (2007) which is below 2:10 seconds the world record that still belongs to the above mentioned Michael Johnson. He also claims to have trained 600 metres distance but no time records are known.
