Driverdb.com concluded their poll in several categories for Driver of the Year 2012.
Portuguese Reb Bull’s Young Driver Programme dominated the election. Quoting Driver Database:
“For the sixth time the annual Driver of the Year poll has been decided. Like last year it was once again a battle of the young and up-and-coming drivers. The closeness of last year’s poll wasn’t matched this time though as the margin of victory was quite overwhelming. After the votes were compiled the 2012 Driver of the Year was Red Bull protegé Antonio Felix da Costa with 51% of the votes. Second overall was Mitch Evans with Fernando Alonso coming in third.

The Driver Database 2012 Driver of the Year awards were run in two parts. First the visitors of Driverdb.com were able to nominate drivers for the five sub categories. The ten drivers with the most nominations in each category were then selected as the nominated drivers – and all were available for voting in the overall Driver of the Year category. During 20 days the visitors were able to vote for the drivers in all seven categories.”
